A seven-week studio for couples ready to choose the next chapter on purpose — not by default.
Sharing a home, mortgage and decades of ordinary Tuesdays does not guarantee that two people have been picturing the same next ten years. One partner may want motion while the other wants stillness. One may be ready to stop work while the other still needs the identity, income or usefulness it provides. Difference is not evidence that the relationship is broken. It is the raw material of a better design.
This is a 66-page visual life-design studio, not a personality quiz, retirement brochure or fill-in-the-blanks journal. It uses Unfinished's three-stage method — Face It, Shape It and Own It — to turn a vague future into something visible, discussable and testable.
Inside, you will:
- Complete personal pages separately before comparing, using the rule that difference is design data rather than a verdict.
- Draw two life wheels, timelines, energy landscapes and identity maps to see where your individual experiences match and diverge.
- Put money, health, social connection and untested assumptions on the same page before they become arguments or silent resentment.
- Create Future Me, Future You and Future Us, then build three shared futures — including one neither of you would have designed alone.
- Compare the paths without trying to win, identify trade-offs and protect the parts of the relationship that must survive every option.
- Design a future week and a named next chapter that includes togetherness, individuality, purpose, health, money and belonging.
- Turn the chosen direction into a shared 90-day prototype with obstacle plans, a support team and a check-in ritual for disagreement.
- Plan the first seven days, first thirty days and a 30/60/90-day learning dashboard, then extend the experiment into a 12-month roadmap.
What you will leave with: A visible picture of Me, You and Us, three shared future options, clearer assumptions and trade-offs, a named next chapter, a jointly agreed 90-day prototype, a relationship check-in ritual and a 12-month roadmap.
Designed for: Couples aged 55+ who want to design the next chapter together without assuming that retirement, work, money, health, place and time mean the same thing to both partners.
Choose your pace: Use it as one focused weekend, a seven-week studio, or a slow build of two or three pages at a time.
No artistic skill is required. Stick figures, rough lines, symbols, words and imperfect sketches all count. The visual work is deliberate: it makes hidden patterns easier to see and future choices easier to discuss.
